An Educational Tour, URSC, Bangaluru

An Educational Tour to U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) Bangalore was organised from 10th to 13th May 2026 for the students of Our Lady of Fatima High School Rivona. URSC is the lead centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), responsible for designing, developing and building Indian satellites.  Altogether, there were 10 students from grades 8 to 10 along with three teachers namely Trs. Juela Goes, Palmira Rodrigues, Peter Sequeira and Headmaster Incharge Fr. Milagres Fernandes who visited the above centre. The government has maintained the place with high security and protection. When they visited the centre, it was an enriching experience as the team got to understand the different types of satellites, it’s applications, making, and also the future plans of URSC. Sparks of Curiosity, Space Exploration

The  Sparks of Curiosity  programme in Goa, based on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) is a educational initiative launched in April 2026 by Goa Chief Minister Dr. Promod Sawant, designed to foster scientific thinking and experiential learning among the students. The government of Goa under the guidance of the Goa State Council of Educational Research and Training (GSCERT) Porvorim, operates the programme in all the schools of Goa. The programme is enforced by the organisation ' Tare Zameen Par Trust'  under the title ' Sparks of Curiosity ' for students.  The students of Our Lady of Fatima High School Rivona attended the same  programme in Government High School, Zambaulim. The students learnt a lot about the entities of the space like formation of stars, types of stars, explosion of stars, the function of hydrogen gas in burning of the stars and so on, in an artificial planetariam. World Earth Day, 22 April 2026

Earth Day is crucial for creating awareness about saving the earth from distruction. The distruction can be seen in the form of climate change, water pollution, and land pollution, where biodiversity is at loss. This day  acts as a worldwide call to action, mobilizing many people annually to educate for sustainability, protect natural resources and push for policies that secure a healthier and greener future for generations to come.  To implement this idea, Our Lady of Fatima High School Rivona created awareness on World Earth Day during the school assembly with a motive of saving the earth from harmful actions of human being, under the guidance of Trs. Rizma Fernandes and Felix Oliveira. The students told about the importance of the day, recited poem, conducted quiz, gave tips on protection of the earth, and announced the action plan to save the earth through small acts. Farewell to Peter Sequeira, April 2026

The management, staff and students of Our Lady of Fatima High School, Rivona, bid farewell to Mr. Peter Sequeira, the office staff who got retired on 31 March 2026. Inspite of the busy schedule of the teachers in different areas and levels of the school, a short farewell programme was organised to mark deep respect and honour to him for his service to the school for 33 years, on 15 April 2026. The day began with Eucharistic prayers followed by the stage programme. As the school management, staff and students prayed and wished all well-being, they also expressed their feelings and emotions through heart-touching speeches, melodious songs, recitation of poems, presenting wishing cards and flowers, cutting of cake, presentation of gifts, power point presentation, and so on, during the programme. Jal Pakhwada April 2026, Save Water

Directives from the Government   It has been decided by the government of India to organise 'Jal Pakhwada' from 16 to 30 April 2026, in all the schools and educational institutions in an appropriate manner with active involvement of students, teachers and community around, to bring awareness on the importance of water harvesting or conservation, since water is a limited resource in our daily life.  Significance of Saving Water   Saving water is significant because only a tiny fraction of Earth's water is fresh and accessible, yet demand is rising due to population growth and climate change . Hence, for the survival of human and other beings, water conservation is really necessary. So, should we not become aware of the fact and act upon the concept of saving water?
