An Educational Tour, URSC, Bangaluru
An Educational Tour to U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) Bangalore was organised from 10th to 13th May 2026 for the students of Our Lady of Fatima High School Rivona. URSC is the lead centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), responsible for designing, developing and building Indian satellites.
Altogether, there were 10 students from grades 8 to 10 along with three teachers namely Trs. Juela Goes, Palmira Rodrigues, Peter Sequeira and Headmaster Incharge Fr. Milagres Fernandes who visited the above centre. The government has maintained the place with high security and protection. When they visited the centre, it was an enriching experience as the team got to understand the different types of satellites, it’s applications, making, and also the future plans of URSC. The students also got a chance to see a clean laboratory, a sterilized place where the satellites were tested before launching. And finally, the students saw the different working models of satellites, their parts and functions, ranging from the first satellite Aryabhata to Chandrayaan III. The students and teachers came out with proud feelings, keeping in mind the hard and smart work done by our Indian scientists and also it was an source of inspiration for them, India being the first country to successfully land a spacecraft near the lunar south pole with Chandrayaan-3 mission.
They also visited some sightseeing places like the Visvesvaraya industrial and technological museum, ISKCON Temple and the Bangalore palace. They all came back with lots of happiness and experience on 14 May 2026.
