National Science Day 2026

Our Lady of Fatima High School Rivona celebrated National Science Day during the school assembly on 28 February 2026 under the guidance of Trs. Juela Goes, Palmira Rodrigues and Jienel Fernandes. The students explained about the significance of the day and demonstrated some innovative experiments with creative explanations. They also highlighted some significant women scientists to support the theme of the year.

As we celebrate National Science Day in India on 28 February, every year, it reminds people about the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist, Sir C.V. Raman on 28 February 1928. Later, Sir Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930 for this groundbreaking and joyful discovery. So to honor the achievement and promote the scientific awareness among people, the Government of India majestically declared '28 February' as National Science Day in 1986.

The official theme for National Science Day 2026 is "Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat". This theme aims to highlight the crucial role of women in the scientific community and their contribution toward building a developed India. Indeed, science is essential in daily life, to enhance, simplify and secure our existence through constant innovation. It also pinpoints essential modern conveniences from health to communication, ensuring safer, and more efficient living.
