Goa Liberation Day was celebrated in Our Lady of Fatima High School Rivona on 19 December 2025, under the guidance of Trs. Flossie Gomes, Prachi Amonkar and Fr. Milagres Fernandes, incharge of Yellow House. The teachers and students gathered together to show their love for the State - Goa, through a stage Programme and flag hoisting. The Chief Guest, Mr Peter Sequeira along with the Manager Rev. Fr. Mario Pereira, PTA Chairpersons, Mr Nazareth Sequeira and Mrs Laxami Naik were present for the Programme. The dignitaries gave their messages of the day and distributed some prizes to the students, on the occasion.

The stage items of the programme such as Flag Hoisting, Slogan Raising, Floral Welcome, Poem by Aliya Lopes from primary school, Speeches by Sparsha, Chief Guest & Fr Milagres, and Dance Performance by primary students - Dhalo Dance were performed. Compering was done by our student Nevicia Correia, in Konkani. The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks and best wishes for the day.

The culmination of this 'Operation Vijay' was the signing of the instrument of surrender by the Portuguese Governor General on December 19, 1961. Goa liberation day signifies the day when goa was released of portuguese dominance by assistance from the Indian Armed Force. This day is celebrated to mark the Indian Armed Forces' annexation of Goa from the Portuguese government in 1961. Indeed, the liberation helped the people of Goa to relieve themselves from the exploitative rules of Portuguese.
