International Literacy Day 2025
International Literacy Day was observed in Our Lady of Fatima High School Rivona, on 8 September 2025, during the school assembly, under the guidance of Tr. Flossie Gomes. The students explained the importance of the day through speeches, acting, quiz and oath taking ceremony. The literacy is must for the development of human values and quality in the life style. Finally, Fr. Milagres Fernandes gave a message of the day saying 'reading, writing and developing human critical mind through education is must for the quality of life'. The theme of this year is on 'Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era'.
This day aims to raise global awareness about the importance of literacy for human rights, individual empowerment and sustain development and to highlight ongoing challenges in achieving universal literacy. It was declared by UNESCO in 1966. It serves as an opportunity to reflect on progress, mobilize efforts to combat illiteracy, and reinforce the commitment to promoting a literate and sustainable society.
